Hi, that’s me up there! I’m Cait, a Minneapolis-based photographer who has a passion for capturing genuine moments—specializing in emotive and moody lifestyle photography for newborns and families.
My lifelong interest in photography started as a child when I could be found rounding up my younger siblings, setting up scenes, and then snapping it all with my disposable camera. Fast forward to college, when I made a slight upgrade from my Fujifilm Quicksnap to my first professional camera. During my study abroad program in Italy for graphic design, I challenged myself to take a photo each day for four months to capture what I came across during my travels. It was there that I fell more in love with capturing daily moments—the locals, winding streets, architectural textures, animals, and of course, my friends.
After graduating, family and friends often asked me to take holiday card images and senior photos. I decided to officially start my photography business in 2017 after my first child, Henry, was born. I was crazy about capturing his tiny fleeting moments in effort to never forget his baby-ness. Becoming a mom (now to my second son Theo too!) has helped me refine my techniques for newborn and family photography. I have gathered all the patience and tricks to get littles to look at the camera, to laugh, and to listen.
I currently live just outside of Minneapolis with my husband and two boys. We enjoy playing outside, visiting new parks each weekend, and hanging out at breweries. If a restaurant has mac and cheese on the menu, I'm trying it.
Why work with me?
My first goal is to make each of my clients comfortable before and during their session. The questionnaire you’ll receive upon booking gathers family details including likes/dislikes for each member and favorite activities to help me prep for your session. During your session I’ll use all the district-and-play tactics including games and goofy prompts to pull out smiles. The comfier my clients, the more I know you’ll love your experience with me and ultimately, your images!
My style is emotive and moody. I strive to capture each family member as their most genuine self and then edit the images to bring out gorgeous details. My graphic design background taught me to have high standards and how to use photography programs in a creative way. Every image is “hand painted” to bring out details—such as sunset skies, creamy skin tones and bright eyes—or omit distractions. I don't settle for average. I want every image to be as close to perfect as possible.
