Little Create: Messy Fun + Exploration

There’s something magical about watching kids dive into art headfirst. No hesitation, no rules, just pure, messy fun. That’s exactly what Little Create is all about. For those who aren't familiar, it's a 1.5-hour sensory art and play workshop (hosted by/at Heart Space) for caregivers and their little ones, designed to encourage exploration through color, texture, and joyful mess-making. With hands-on stations, creative freedom, and a gentle wind-down featuring a snack and story, it’s a special experience that supports brain development, confidence, and connection—without the cleanup at home!

These classes happen about once a month, and I've recently had the joy of capturing all that magic with my camera: paint-splattered clothes, tiny hands busy with glue and spray bottles, and eyes wide with curiosity. I just have so much fun connecting with the community and supporting local businesses, especially the art-focused ones! Heart Space is such a unique local gem, and Maddie (the owner) wanted to decrease the stigma of therapy by creating a therapeutic space that is inviting, warm, creative and inspiring.

Little Create isn’t your typical art class. It’s an explosion of color and creativity, where each child is the artist of their own story. From the tables brimming with supplies, to a giant frame available for experimenting, to bins full of textures to explore, it’s a space that celebrates every squiggle and sparkle.

As a photographer, these are the moments I love most. The real, unscripted expressions. Whether that’s a shy grin, a burst of giggles, or the quiet focus of a child lost in their project. They’re fleeting, but they’re also the moments that stick with us long after the paint has dried.

I’ve put together a gallery below of these vibrant moments. If you were there, I hope it brings back some of the joy and wonder your kids experienced. If not, let this be a little nudge to come join the fun next time!
