One Size Doesn’t Fit All: Finding the Right Newborn Session for You

You just had a baby. The days are a blur, your body is healing, and your house may or may not look like a tornado hit it. Or maybe you’re feeling surprisingly on top of things and want to document this moment in a more polished way. Wherever you’re at, I’ll meet you there.

Over the years, I’ve realized there’s no one right way to document this season. Some families want those classic, buttoned-up portraits. Some want the realness: the nursing, the mesh undies, the quiet moments between chaos. Others want a simple, beautiful experience with everything handled for them at my studio.

Instead of fitting you into a box, I tailor each newborn session to reflect who you are in this moment. Together, we’ll curate something that feels aligned with your season, your energy, and your story. Let’s take a look at what that might look like!

1. In-Home Lifestyle Sessions (Polished + Personal)

These are the “classic” lifestyle newborn sessions: think coordinated outfits, beautiful natural light, and thoughtful but relaxed guidance + posing. We work in your home, using favorite corners of the nursery, bedroom, or living room as our backdrop. These sessions are often styled intentionally, but still leave room for connection and spontaneity.

Why people love it:

  • Your home becomes part of the story.

  • Older siblings and pets can easily be included.

  • No need to bundle everyone up and drive somewhere.

Things to consider:

  • You may want to tidy up a bit beforehand.

  • Lighting varies home to home, but I’ll guide you on how to prep your space.

2. Intimate & Raw Postpartum Sessions (Tender + Honest)

These are for the families who want to remember the real parts of those early days: the cluster feeds, the little burp cloths everywhere, the quiet pauses between cries and cuddles. There's something so powerful about documenting this season without trying to tidy it up. These sessions feel more like a quiet morning together than a photoshoot. You don’t need to clean. You don’t need to perform.

Why people love it:

  • Zero pressure to prep or plan.

  • Captures the fleeting intensity of newborn life.

  • Deeply emotional and storytelling-driven.

Things to consider:

  • These sessions are more documentary in nature.

  • They often include feeding, skin-to-skin moments, and quiet stillness.

3. Studio Sessions (Simple + Styled)

For the families who want clean, consistent light, minimal distractions, and a calm environment, my in-home studio in Golden Valley is the perfect setting. There's no need to prep your space or worry about the weather. Everything’s ready for you when you arrive.

Why people love it:

  • No pressure to tidy your home or manage logistics.

  • Beautiful natural light and cozy textures, all set up ahead of time.

Things to consider:

  • Less storytelling than in-home sessions.

  • Travel is involved, though many find it easier than prepping their house.

So… Which Session Is Right for You?

Here’s the truth: You can’t choose wrong. Every option is designed to feel easy, supportive, and true to this season of life. Maybe you want to honor the rawness of postpartum. Maybe you want to feel a little more pulled-together. Maybe you just want someone else to handle all the details.

Whatever you choose, I’ll walk you through it. I’ll help you prep (if prep is needed). I’ll guide you gently. I’ll meet you wherever you are. Messy, magic, or somewhere in between.

Ready to tell your story your way? Tap here to reserve your newborn session. You don’t have to decide exactly what your session will look like right now. When you reserve your spot, we’ll work together to plan a session that feels like the best fit for your family and this season of life.
